Battery and firmware limits to check before you buy.
Compatibility is not just a resolution or price question. It depends on whether the camera firmware exposes a stream TapoAppForPC can open locally.
- Tapo C425 Supported
- Supported through the native battery-camera path. It does not use an RTSP URL.
- Tapo C465 MagCam 4K Not streamable
- Not streamable in the current public support path because the battery firmware disables the local stream server. See the C465 compatibility warning.

What to do after you find your model.
- If the model is supported through RTSP / ONVIF, enable Camera Account in the Tapo phone app, then open TapoAppForPC and scan the local network.
- If the model is the C425, use the native battery-camera path and expect on-demand viewing rather than always-on RTSP.
- If the model is unsupported or still testing, choose a wired alternative from the Tapo camera reviews before buying.

Which Tapo cameras work with TapoAppForPC?
Every wired Tapo camera in the reviewed table that lists RTSP / ONVIF works through the wired-camera path after Camera Account is enabled in the Tapo phone app. The Tapo C425 is the battery exception and uses the native protocol instead of RTSP.
Does the Tapo C425 work on PC?
Yes. The Tapo C425 is supported through TP-Link's native protocol, not RTSP. TapoAppForPC can show on-demand live view, battery percentage, solar charging status, and the last motion clip.
Do the Tapo C465 MagCam 4K and C615F KIT work?
No. The current C465 and C615F battery firmware does not expose the local stream TapoAppForPC needs, so both pages are compatibility warnings with supported alternatives.
What does RTSP support mean for a Tapo camera?
RTSP support means the camera exposes a local stream such as rtsp://CAMERA_IP:554/stream1 after you enable Camera Account. TapoAppForPC normally discovers that address automatically, so most users do not type the URL by hand.
If my exact model is not reviewed, should I still try it?
Use the family table as a routing hint, then check the exact model and firmware before buying. TP-Link sometimes changes streaming behaviour by battery model, bundle, region, or firmware version.
