The Tapo C320WS is the fixed outdoor bullet camera in TP-Link's wired Tapo range. It pairs a 2560 by 1440 starlight sensor with IP66 weatherproofing, person and vehicle detection, RTSP and ONVIF support, and the largest Amazon review count in the outdoor Tapo range at 14,090 ratings averaging 4.4 stars. At $34.97 against a $41.99 RRP, the C320WS is the outdoor wired Tapo we recommend first when the camera angle does not need to move.

Design and build target the outdoor job.

The C320WS ships in a white bullet housing with a glass lens cover, a power lead with a gasketed inline connector, dual antennas, and a ball-joint bracket for exterior walls. The IP66 rating covers rain and dust, and the rear Ethernet port gives the C320WS a more stable install path than Wi-Fi-only outdoor cameras. The body still needs permanent power from the 9V DC adapter, so the cleanest install is beside a weatherproof outdoor socket.

Image quality delivers 2K QHD.

The 1/3 inch starlight sensor renders 2560 by 1440 at 15 frames per second across a 113 degree diagonal, 97 degree horizontal, and 54 degree vertical field of view. Fine detail on a driveway is a clear step above 1080p, and the F1.61 lens holds onto colour at dusk before the camera has to lean on its spotlights. TapoAppForPC streams the full 2K QHD feed to the desktop grid without downscaling.

Night vision runs in colour or infrared.

The C320WS ships with two built-in spotlights and an 850 nanometre infrared night mode rated up to 98 feet, or 29.9 metres, on the official spec sheet. Full-colour mode uses the starlight sensor and spotlights for a brighter image, while infrared mode keeps the scene monochrome when you do not want the lights firing on every event.

Audio runs two-way with AAC transcoding.

Two-way audio works through the built-in microphone and speaker as a telephony audio codec. TapoAppForPC's bundled audio layer transcodes the stream to AAC, which plays inside a desktop browser window without any extra software.

RTSP and TapoAppForPC use the wired-camera path.

The C320WS supports RTSP and ONVIF on TP-Link's official spec sheet. After enabling the Camera Account inside the Tapo phone app, TapoAppForPC finds the camera on the LAN and streams the main 2K QHD feed over rtsp://192.168.x.x:554/stream1.

Setup in the web app takes three steps.

Mount the camera, connect power, then open TapoAppForPC and scan the local network. When the C320WS appears, enter the Camera Account username and password; the 2K QHD feed joins the desktop grid with AAC audio and a shareable LAN URL for another screen on the same network.

Who should buy the Tapo C320WS.

Buy the C320WS for a driveway, a porch, a side gate, or any fixed exterior angle where 2K QHD detail and a spotlight deterrent matter. Skip the C320WS if the exterior view needs to move, in which case the C520WS is the outdoor pan/tilt upgrade.

Alternatives to the Tapo C320WS.

The Tapo C520WS adds a full outdoor pan/tilt motor, a siren, and a spotlight for $15 more. The Tapo C720 steps up to a full 2800-lumen floodlight body.

What we would buy differently.

If the after-dark area extends past a tight porch or side gate, we would pay more for the C325WB. The C325WB is the better colour-night camera when the scene needs stronger low-light detail. For a fixed porch, side gate, or short driveway, the C320WS keeps the better price and the larger installed-base proof.

Verdict on the Tapo C320WS.

With 14,090 Amazon reviews averaging 4.4 stars and a $34.97 price, the C320WS is the most proven outdoor wired Tapo in the catalogue. The Tapo C320WS is the outdoor starting point we recommend first when the view can stay fixed. Pointed at a side gate for a fortnight, the C320WS kept a usable colour image at last light while the indoor C220 in the same lighting had already become a softer low-light feed. That is the job a fixed exterior bullet should do: stay powered, hold the angle, and keep enough detail for TapoAppForPC to show what happened.

Put the Tapo C320WS on your desktop grid.

TapoAppForPC streams the Tapo C320WS directly over the local network at its native 2K+ resolution with live AAC audio. No cloud, no subscription, no Android emulator.
