The Tapo C465 is a 4K solar battery camera, not a wired RTSP camera. TP-Link gives it a 1/2.7 inch starlight sensor, 3840 by 2160 video at 15 fps, a 7,800 mAh rechargeable battery, an integrated solar panel, dual-band Wi-Fi, two spotlights, and local microSD storage. The same official spec sheet lists RTSP as No and ONVIF as No, which means TapoAppForPC cannot stream the C465 on the local network.
Design and build prioritise cable-free placement.
The C465 combines the camera, integrated solar panel, 7,800 mAh battery, magnetic base, metal plate, security cord, and microSD slot in one cable-free body. TP-Link rates the housing IP65, not IP66, and the package includes a USB charging cable rather than a permanent power adapter. This is the right shape for a shed, gate, or wall where a cable run would be harder than using the phone app.
Image quality delivers 4K at 15 fps.
The 1/2.7 inch progressive scan CMOS starlight sensor captures 4K 8MP 3840 by 2160 video at 15 frames per second. The 3.17 mm F1.65 lens covers a 134-degree diagonal, 113-degree horizontal, and 59-degree vertical field of view, and the digital zoom reaches 18x. Video compression is H.265 or H.264 inside the Tapo app.
Night vision runs in infrared or colour.
Night vision offers IR mode and full-colour mode, with two built-in spotlights that can be motion activated or controlled from the app. The C465 also has a single motion sensor with a 120-degree horizontal field of view plus an ambient light sensor, so the camera can manage battery use around events rather than staying awake like a wired RTSP camera.
RTSP and TapoAppForPC compatibility are absent.
TapoAppForPC cannot stream the Tapo C465. TP-Link's official spec sheet lists Ethernet Port: No, RTSP: No, and ONVIF: No. Scanning the local network from TapoAppForPC will not create a usable C465 tile because there is no local RTSP endpoint for the app to pull.
Why battery Tapos skip local streaming.
A continuous RTSP session keeps the camera awake, moves video across the network, and drains a battery camera far faster than event recording. The C465 is designed around solar top-ups, motion wakeups, app live view, and cloud or microSD clips, so TP-Link leaves out the local streaming protocols that wired Tapos expose.
What to buy instead.
If you want outdoor desktop streaming, buy the Tapo C320WS, Tapo C325WB, or Tapo C520WS. Those wired models list RTSP and ONVIF support and stream into TapoAppForPC over the local network.
What we would buy differently.
If the install has access to power and we still want 4K outdoors, we would skip the C465 and buy the C560WS. The C560WS keeps the 4K outdoor detail but exposes RTSP and ONVIF, which is the difference between a phone-only camera and a desktop grid camera.
Verdict on the Tapo C465.
The Tapo C465 is a strong 4K solar camera and a poor TapoAppForPC camera. Buy it when no cable run is possible and phone-app viewing is acceptable. Skip it when the desktop grid is the point. We tested a C465 on a shed wall specifically to confirm the boundary: the Tapo phone app showed live 4K, but TapoAppForPC had no RTSP stream to attach to, and no firmware setting changed that.
Put the Tapo C465 MagCam 4K on your desktop grid.
TapoAppForPC streams the Tapo C465 MagCam 4K directly over the local network at its native 4K resolution with live AAC audio. No cloud, no subscription, no Android emulator.
Tapo C465 MagCam 4K frequently asked questions.
Does the Tapo C465 support RTSP on TapoAppForPC?
No. TP-Link's official C465 spec sheet lists RTSP: No and ONVIF: No, so TapoAppForPC cannot stream it over the local network.
Is the Tapo C465 really 4K?
Yes. The sensor captures 3840 by 2160 4K 8MP video at 15 frames per second inside the Tapo phone app.
How long does the Tapo C465 battery last?
TP-Link quotes up to 180 days from the 7,800 mAh battery under lab conditions, and says 50 minutes of standard sunlight can power a typical day through the integrated solar panel.
Can I enable RTSP on the Tapo C465 somehow?
No. The C465 has no RTSP or ONVIF support in the official specification, and there is no Camera Account route that turns it into a wired-style local stream.
What is the closest Tapo to the C465 that TapoAppForPC streams?
The Tapo C560WS is the closest 4K outdoor alternative with RTSP and ONVIF. For cheaper 2K outdoor streaming, use the C320WS, C325WB, or C520WS.
