The Tapo C246D Hybrid is a dual-lens Tapo camera with a 125 degree fixed wide lens for coverage and a 360 degree pan-tilt lens for zoomed detail. Both lenses expose their own RTSP stream on firmware 1.1 and later, which means TapoAppForPC renders the C246D as two separate tiles inside the grid and the motor controls rotate only the second lens. It is the most flexible single Tapo for rooms that need both an overview shot and a target-tracking shot.

Design and build.

The C246D sits on a weighted base with the fixed lens mounted above the motor head. The two lenses share a single Wi-Fi radio, a single power tail, and a single Tapo Camera Account, but they appear as two separate devices on the LAN at sequential IP addresses.

Image quality.

Both lenses capture 2K+ (2560x1440) inside TapoAppForPC at H.264. The fixed lens runs a slightly wider field of view for whole-room coverage. The pan-tilt lens runs a tighter field for detail work and rotates on the standard Tapo motor range, 360 degrees horizontal and 114 degrees vertical.

RTSP and TapoAppForPC compatibility.

The C246D exposes two independent RTSP streams on firmware 1.1 and later, one per lens. TapoAppForPC scans the camera, creates two tiles inside the grid, and wires the motor PTZ controls to the second tile only. You can rotate the pan-tilt lens with W, A, S, D or the arrow keys while the fixed lens continues to cover the room in its own tile.

Setup in the web app takes three steps.

Open tapoappforpc.com/app, click Scan Network, and accept both C246D entries when the wizard lists them. Enter your Camera Account username and password once and both lenses populate in the grid with live video and audio.

Who should buy it.

The C246D is the right pick when a single room needs both an overview shot and a target-tracking shot. Nurseries, garages with two workbenches, and front entrances that need a wide lens plus a doorbell-zoom lens all benefit from the hybrid architecture. Pair it with a Tapo C225 if you want AI detection on the fixed lens as well.

Verdict.

The Tapo C246D Hybrid is the only Tapo we have tested that renders two distinct streams from a single device, which is a meaningful advantage inside TapoAppForPC's multi-camera grid. Buy the C246D when the room genuinely needs two lenses, otherwise the C225 delivers the same 2K+ single-lens experience for less.

Put the Tapo C246D Hybrid on your desktop grid.

TapoAppForPC streams the Tapo C246D Hybrid directly over the local network at its native 2K+ resolution with live AAC audio. No cloud, no subscription, no Android emulator.

Tapo C246D Hybrid frequently asked questions.

Does the Tapo C246D support RTSP on TapoAppForPC?

Yes, per lens, on firmware 1.1 and later. The fixed wide lens and the motor pan-tilt lens each expose their own RTSP stream and TapoAppForPC renders them as two separate tiles in the grid.

Can TapoAppForPC rotate the pan-tilt lens on the Tapo C246D?

Yes. The motor PTZ controls (the D-pad on screen and the W, A, S, D keyboard shortcuts) rotate the pan-tilt lens only. The fixed wide lens is not motorised.

How many Tapo C246D tiles appear in the TapoAppForPC grid?

Two per C246D camera. The fixed lens and the pan-tilt lens are independent RTSP streams, so each gets its own tile with its own zoom, pause, and fullscreen controls.

Does the Tapo C246D work outdoors?

No. The C246D is an indoor-only model with no IP rating. For outdoor dual-lens coverage, pair a Tapo C320WS (fixed outdoor) with a Tapo C520WS (motor outdoor).

How much does the Tapo C246D cost?

Roughly $90 on Amazon US at the time of this review. Check Amazon for the current price.
