What runs on our server after you buy.

Nothing. Once you have downloaded TapoAppForPC, it never contacts tapoappforpc.com again. Video stays on your home network — your cameras talk directly to your computer, not to us. We cannot see your cameras, we do not relay video, and we do not meter your usage. If our server disappeared tomorrow, your copy of TapoAppForPC would keep running forever. We recommend backing up the download to a cloud drive or USB stick so you can restore it on a new machine without needing to ask us for a fresh link.

What the v0.2 native apps will add.

• Starts at boot, lives in your system tray. The native app launches with your computer, reconnects after Wi-Fi drops, and streams silently from the tray icon (Windows) or menu bar (Mac). Close the window and the cameras keep running. Native OS notifications when something needs your attention.
• Records to your hard drive. Save any camera to MP4 on a schedule or with one click. Your footage, your disk, no cloud subscription.
• Knows what triggered the alert. On-device classification identifies who is at your door: person, animal, vehicle, or irrelevant. Not "motion detected" — the actual subject that triggered the camera.
• Hears what your camera hears. Monitors live audio and flags sounds that matter to a homeowner: a dog barking, glass breaking, a smoke alarm, a baby crying. Processed locally, never sent to any server.
• Notices what changed and stayed. Learns each camera's baseline scene and alerts on persistent changes: a package on the porch, a car parked where there was not one, a gate left open. A real change still there five minutes later.

Compatibility before you buy.

TapoAppForPC works with every wired Tapo camera that supports desktop streaming — 60+ models from the C100 to the C860. Battery-powered Tapo models — including the C465 MagCam 4K and the C615F KIT — do not support desktop streaming due to a hardware limitation set by TP-Link. No desktop app can stream these cameras. We flag them clearly on their review pages and do not recommend TapoAppForPC if they are the only cameras you own.
